The AFD Advisory Committee advises the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors and assists in creating, reviewing, modifying, continuing or terminating agricultural and forestal districts within the County, and renders expert advice as to the nature of farming and forestry, as well as agricultural and forestal resources within the districts and their relation to the entire locality. This body is governed by Virginia Code Section 15.2-4304 and New Kent Code Section 62-34.
Makeup: Consists of 8 County landowners (5 district appointments and 3 at large), 4 of whom must be engaged in agricultural or forestal production, as well as the Commissioner of the Revenue and a member of the Board of Supervisors.
Terms:: 4-year staggered terms ending December 31
Meeting Schedule: Meets "as needed" in the Boardroom of the County Administration building.
