The function of the Economic Development Authority is to promote the orderly economic growth of New Kent without detriment to the County's natural environment and in a manner consistent with the direction provided by the Board of Supervisors in the County's Land Use Plan and Ordinance. It is governed by Virginia Code Section 15.2-4900 and New Kent Code Section 18.181.
Makeup: Appointed by the Board of Supervisors (5 election district appointments and 2 at large). Members must take an oath of office before taking office initially and at each re-appointment, and must file annual Conflict of Interest forms with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
Terms:: 4-year staggered terms ending December 31
Compensation: $100 per month when there is a meeting
Meeting Schedule: Meets at 8:30 a.m. on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the New Kent County Visitors & Commerce Center located at 7324 Vineyards Parkway, New Kent, Virginia.
