Mental Health & Developmental Services Board


The Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services Board (Charles City, New Kent, & Henrico) is a policy advisory community services board established for the purpose of providing local public mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services. No member shall serve more than three terms and appointments shall be broadly representative of the community. One-third of the Board should be consumers or family members of consumers. One or more may be nongovernmental services providers. Sheriffs or their designees shall also be included when practical. No employee or board member of an organization which receives funding from any community services board shall be appointed a member of the board. No board shall be composed of a majority of local government officials, elected or appointed, nor shall any locality be represented by more than 2 elected or appointed officials. Governed by State Code Section 37.1-195 et seq
