The function of the Planning Commission is to promote the orderly development of the locality and its environs. It is governmned by Virginia Code Section 15.2-2210 and New Kent Code Section 18.231.
Makeup: Composed of two Board-appointed members from each election district, each of whom must be a resident of the district from which they are appointed, and one representative from the Board of Supervisors. Members must file a Conflict of Interest form with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors prior to taking office and annually thereafter.
Term: 4-year staggered terms ending December 31.
Meeting Schedule: 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the County Administration Building.
Compensation: $75 for first meeting in a month, $50 for second meeting in same month, not to exceed $125 per month.
