The function of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission is to serve as liaison between the citizens, Board of Supervisors, Department of Parks & Recreation, and to make recommendations on matters relating to the recreational needs of the citizens. Responsibilities include the preparation, adoption and maintenance of a Parks and Recreation master plan; to hold regular meetings and maintain adequate meeting records; to interpret the services offered to the citizens; provide recommendations on a system of supervised recreation for the County; to assist the Department in identifying funding sources and securing funds for the County’s park and recreation service and facilities; increase public awareness of the existence and value of park and recreation opportunities in the County; review annual Department budget; assist the Department in recruiting voluntary leadership staff to work with provided services; and carry out any other assigned duties and/or activities as deemed appropriate by the Department. and/or the Board of Supervisors.
Makeup: One member from each election district appointed by the Board of Supervisors, a School System representative, and a member of the Board of Supervisors.
Term: 3-year staggered terms ending December 31.
Meeting Schedule: 3rd Wednesday of each monthat 6:30 p.m. in the County Administration Building.
