Clean County Committee shredding & recycling event

REVISED Clean County Committee Flyer March 2019.jpg

The New Kent Clean County Committee (CCC) understands your concerns regarding shredding, recycling, and cleaning up all communities in New Kent. As a result, to start the initiative we are hosting a Recycling and Shredding Event on March 30, 2019 from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the New Kent County Courthouse for New Kent County residents. Further, concerned citizens are organizing a community clean-up day tentatively set for April 13, 2019. Those planning the event will provide more information as the date approaches. The CCC is also currently working on hosting additional events throughout the year to Keep New Kent Beautiful.

The CCC has received numerous inquiries about the event itself, as well as questions regarding items that will be accepted at the event and we have additional details to provide:

  • The event will start promptly at 9:00am and end at 1:00pm.
  • Citizens are responsible for loading all items brought on site into the appropriate container or disposal area.
  • Containers used to transport paper documents to the shredding event must be returned to the citizen. There will be no dumpster on site for plastic or cardboard.
  • Recyclable electronic items include anything with a plug, unless it contains freon or alkaline batteries. Large appliances will not be accepted.
  • Tires must be free from the rim and be empty of all mud and debris. Tractor and industrial equipment tires will not be accepted.

This event is free, and there is no limit on the amount items that a resident can dispose of.  If any of the above prohibited items are brought to the event, they will not be accepted.

The New Kent CCC is grateful for the growing support from the community for the Recycling and Shredding Event. We look forward to having our residents come out on March 30, 2019 for the shredding of paper documents, recycling of electronics, and the disposal of tires. As always, we encourage citizens to collect trash in their neighborhoods.

Please direct questions for this event to Marty Eagle (804-389-0080).

Thank you.
