The Constitution of Virginia requires that you be registered in the precinct in which you live in order to be qualified to vote.

The New Kent County Voter Registration Office, currently located inside the Health & Human Service Building at 7911 Courthouse Way, Suite 400, New Kent, is open each week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Beginning Friday September 17, the County will begin early voting for the November 2, 2021 General & Special Election.  Please keep in mind the following deadline dates for the November General & Special Election in District 5 for member School Board {for unexpired term to end December 31, 2023):

  • Early Voting begins Friday, September 17, 2021.  Masks are required in the building.
  • The final day to register in order to vote in the November General Election is Tuesday, October 12, 2021 by 5:00 p.m.
  • The last day to receive an application or to request an absentee application for a ballot to be mailed is Friday, October 22, 2021.
  • The office will also be open on Saturday, October 23, 2021 and Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the purpose of accepting in person applications for an absentee ballot.  October 30, 2021 is the last day for absentee and early voting.  Sunday hours have not been established at this time. 
  • All requests for reasonable accommodations due to a disability should be made to the Registrar with at least a 48-hour notice.  All voters must present one of the following acceptable forms of identification when voting, {As of July 1, 2020}: (A complete list is also available on our website or the Virginia Department of Elections website.

-Your Voter Registration Notice Document                                      - Virginia Driver’s License

-Your Va. DMV issued ID                                                                 - Valid United States Passport

-Your Employer issued ID                                                                -  Any other U.S. or Va. Gov. issued ID

-Your Voter ID card issued by the Dept. of Elections                      - Tribal enrollment or other Tribal ID

- Current Utility Bill, Bank statement, gov check or any other gov. document containing your name 

-Va. ID issued by a public or private school in Va.

- A signed Confirmation Statement
