YOU MAY NEED A NEW KENT COUNTY BUSINESS LICENSE IF:

ALL CONTRACTORS/BUILDERS DOING BUSINESS IN NEW KENT COUNTY (NEW KENT COUNTY RESIDENTS & NON-RESIDENTS) MUST OBTAIN A NEW KENT COUNTY BUSINESS LICENSE IN ORDER TO HAVE A BUILDING PERMIT ISSUED IF THE AMOUNT OF PROJECT COST IS $25000.00 AND OVER.

PLEASE CONTACT THE NEW KENT COUNTY COMMISIONER OF REVENUES OFFICE TO OBTAIN ASSISTANCE WITH BUSINESS LICENSE.

Commercial Building Permit applications will only be accepted after a site plan has been approved through the Planning Department.

You will be required to submit:

• a completed application (incomplete applications will not be accepted)
• 4 sets of building plans (no exceptions)
• 1 approved site plan or approval letter
• A copy of your Land Disturbance Permit

A Commerical Land Disturbance application must be submitted prior to the Building Permit Application being submitted. Please contact the Environmental Department at 804-966-8580 or in the Administration Building for more information.

Sub Applications require 4 sets of plans and will not be issued on the spot.
