The applications below are used for Single Family Dwellings. Have all applications that pertain to you filled out prior to submittal. Please note that incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applications are accepted daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Please call 966-9680 with any questions you may have and we will be happy to help you.

Inspection Information

YOU MAY NEED A NEW KENT COUNTY BUSINESS LICENSE IF:

ALL CONTRACTORS/BUILDERS DOING BUSINESS IN NEW KENT COUNTY (NEW KENT COUNTY RESIDENTS & NON-RESIDENTS) MUST OBTAIN A NEW KENT COUNTY BUSINESS LICENSE IN ORDER TO HAVE A BUILDING PERMIT ISSUED IF THE AMOUNT OF PROJECT COST IS $25000.00 AND OVER.

PLEASE CONTACT THE NEW KENT COUNTY COMMISIONER OF REVENUES OFFICE TO OBTAIN ASSISTANCE WITH BUSINESS LICENSE.

Preprinted Sub Applications will be provided when the Building Permit is issued and we encourage the use of them. The Builder should provide the preprinted applications to the sub contractors. Use the below applications only if the preprinted ones are not available to you by the Builder.

A separate Mechanical permit is required to be pulled by the contractor that is installing fireplace inserts.

DEMOLITION/BURN

If you would like to find out if the New Kent County Fire Department would be interested in using a structure that you are going to demo as training, please call 804-966-9618. If the fire department is going to use your demo project for training, you will also need to obtain a burn permit.

LAND DISTURBANCE

A Land Disturbance permit is required for any land disturbing activity greater than 2500 square feet. Please contact the Environmental Department at 804-966-8580 or Suite 101 in the Administration Department. A copy of your Land Disturbance permit or a receipt from the Environmental Department must accompany your Building Permit Application at the time of submittal.
