The permit center has received numerous requests for permits for prefab sheds that have traditional garage doors on them.
UNDER SECTION R.309.3 OF THE 2006 IRC, GARAGES CANNOT HAVE A COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL FOR FLOORING. SHEDS WITH GARAGE DOORS LARGER THAN 6 FT. ARE CONSIDERED GARAGES AND THEREFORE CANNOT HAVE COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL AS FLOORS.

Proffers are no longer accepted at time of submitting a new single family dwelling permit. We only accept the proffer after the final building inspection and prior to the issuance of the certificate of occupancy. 9/20/2010

 

You must provide a copy of your VSMP permit and a copy of your VDOT land use permit (if required) to the Environmental Office before a Certificate of Occupany will be issued. 9/20/2010
