Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission
- served as liaison between the citizens, Board of Supervisors, and Department of Parks & Recreation, and makes recommendations on matters relating to the recreational needs of the citizens
- responsibilities include
- preparation, adoption and maintenance of a Parks and Recreation master plan
- holding regular meetings and maintaining adequate meeting records
- interpreting the services offered to the citizens
- providing recommendations on a system of supervised recreation for the County
- assisting the Department in identifying funding sources and securing funds for the County’s park and recreation service and facilities
- increasing public awareness of the existence and value of park and recreation opportunities in the County
- reviewing annual Department budget
- assisting the Department in recruiting voluntary leadership staff to work with provided services
- carrying out any other assigned duties and/or activities as deemed appropriate by the Department and/or the Board of Supervisors.
- composed of 1 member from each election district appointed by the Board of Supervisors, a School System representative, & a member of the Board of Supervisors
- appointees serve 3-year staggered terms ending December 31
- meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the County Administration Building
- Chartered on May 14, 2012, by adoption of Resolution R-22-12
