The Planning Division of the Community Development Department provides
staff support to the Planning Commission
and Board of Supervisors, including reviewing and
providing recommendations on all land use matters presented to the Commission
and Board. The Department also provides staff support to the County's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Agricultural & Forestal District Committee, Board
of Zoning Appeals, Purchase of Development Rights Advisory Committee, Historic Commission and Zoning Ordinance Rewrite Committee. To see a list of all Boards and Committee Members click here.
The
Department reviews plans of development for compliance with various County
ordinances and is responsible for enforcement of the County's Subdivision
and Zoning Ordinances. The Department is also the lead agency for implementation
of the County's Geographic Information System. New Kent County is a member
of the Richmond
Regional Planning District Commission.
The New Kent Board of Supervisors have approved Resolution 54-09 which designates October 2009 as Community Planning Month in New Kent County! Click here to view the Resolution.
