The lines from the water meter or sewer clean-out to your residence are your property and your responsibility. All water and sewer emergencies should be reported during the day (8am - 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday) to the Public Utilities department at (804) 966-9678. During weekends, holidays, and nights call (804)966-9500.

Testing Meters
Upon request of the customer, a water meter may be tested for accuracy. If the meter is found to be accurate within 5%, all water bills shall be paid as presented and the customer will be charged a $ 35.00 testing fee. If the meter registers greater than 5% of correct value, the county will bear the cost of testing and a proportional adjustment will be made to the customer's current water bill.
