In order to use the sites, you must have either a New Kent decal on your vehicle or a signed Refuse Authorization.

Note: All sites are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Sites are not designed to accept commercial waste. All sites will accept regular household waste, and recyclable items including used motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, bagged leaves, corrugated cardboard, mixed paper and boxes, newspapers and co-mingled waste (aluminum, glass and plastics #1 and #2).

On October 1, 2009, the main site (Route 618) will again be accepting televisions or computer monitors for recycling.

In addition, the main site (Route 618) will accept lead acid batteries, empty propane tanks, used paint, scrap metals, and appliances (dryers, washers, refrigerators, stoves). Please be advised that there is $15.00 fee to remove refrigerant from any appliance.

Household brush is no longer being accepted at the main refuse site. Residents may now take their brush (up to 6" in diameter) to the new Brush Recycling Center located at 14900 Stage Road. There are directional signs on Stage Road. A New Kent County decal or Refuse Authorization is required in order to discard your brush at no charge.

The following items will NOT be accepted at any sites:
- tires
- automobile chassis
- brush larger than 6" in caliper
- toxic chemicals

If you need information on disposal of any of these prohibited items, please contact our department and we will be glad to offer some recommendations.
