The Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare program emphasizes
personal responsibility. VIEW participants may be provided with services
such as job skills training, work experience, job readiness training,
child care assistance, transportation and other work related expenses.

TANF
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families is a program that provides temporary
financial assistance to eligible families with children.

Food Stamps
Food Stamps are electronic benefits that can be used like cash to buy food at any store that has a sign displaying the Cardinal Card or the Quest sign.
Each eligible household will receive a card that may be used like a bank debit card to purchase eligible food items from your account.

Child Care Services
Eligible working families may receive help in paying care costs.
Most families are required to pay a portion of the cost of care, with
the care program paying the remainder.

Medicaid & Auxiliary Grants
These programs pay for a variety of medical services, including prescription
drugs, doctor visits, nursing facility care and hospital care.

Foster Care
Temporary care is arranged for children who cannot be in their own homes.

Adoption Services
Adoption is a service for children who cannot be cared for by their birth
parents and who need and can benefit from new and permanent family ties
established through a legal process. Adoption services are provided to
children who need permanent families, birth parents who are unable to
parent their children and adoptive parents who want to provide a home
for a child not born to them.

Child Protective Services
Anyone may report suspected child abuse or neglect. Valid reports will be investigated or a family assessment will be completed to determine if services are needed. Services are also provided to prevent child abuse and/or neglect. To report possible child abuse or neglect visit the Social Services Home Page.

Adult Services
Home and community-based services allow the elderly or adults with disabilities
to remain in their homes rather than move to institutional placements.
Screening for adult care residence and nursing facility placements is
provided.

Adult Protective Services
Reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation of elders and adults with
disabilities are investigated. Services are developed to prevent abuse,
neglect and exploitation of these populations.
