Dates to Remember
January 1 - Dog tags go on sale
January 15 - Fourth quarter Virginia estimated income tax payments are due.
January 31 - Dog licenses are due. All dogs four months or older must have a dog tag. You must provide a rabies vaccination certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian. Rabies clinic held last Saturday in January.
March 1 - Business, Professional, and Occupational Licenses (BPOL) due. Applications are available from Commissioner of Revenue. 804/966-9610 for information.
May 1 - Virginia income taxes are due. First quarter Virginia estimated taxes due.
June 15 - Second quarter Virginia estimated taxes due.
September 15 - Third Quarter Virginia estimated taxes due.
December 5 - Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes are due.
You may pre-pay your local taxes at any time in whatever interval best suits your budget. Include your social security number and/or tax map and parcel number on your check (made payable to New Kent County). This allows us to identify and properly credit your account(s).
2009 Real Estate Tax Rate: 0.73/$100
2009 Personal Property Tax Rate: $3.75/$100
During tax season (November 1 through December 5), real estate and personal property payments may be made by mail, by phone, in person, at designated Citizens & Farmers Bank branch locations, or on the internet.
