Real Estate Taxes
Real estate taxes are billed once a year. The payment is due by December 5th.
New Kent's real estate tax rate is currently 73 cents per $100 of assessed value. For example, a property with an assessed value of $100,000 would be taxed $730.
For most citizens that have a mortgage on their property, their lending institution escrows taxes and then pays New Kent County on the due date. The mortgage company must request your bill from New Kent before each due date. If they do not, the bill is mailed directly to the owner. In either case, it is ultimately the owner's responsibility to ensure taxes are paid timely in order to avoid late payment fees.
New Kent County issues supplemental real estate bills for new construction or additions. For more information see Supplemental Real Estate Bills.
