New Kent County recently earned the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) certification for its commitment to hiring military veterans.

Virginia Values Veterans (V3) is an innovative program administered by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) that works with companies and state and local governmental agencies across the Commonwealth to promote the recruitment, hiring, and retention of military veterans in the Virginia workforce. Since its inception in 2012, more than 33,000 veterans have been hired as a result of the efforts of the V3 Program and its partner employers.

“This opportunity will connect New Kent County Government with a highly-skilled, well-educated, and easily-trained cross section of leaders that is Virginia’s veterans,” County Administrator Rodney Hathaway said.

The V3 Program is a free training and certification program for employers to help them implement nationally recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring, and retaining highly skilled and dependable veterans. All services offered through the V3 Program – including the application, enrollment, training, certification, and recertification can be obtained at no cost to the employer.
