NKC sets up Vaccine Call Center
New Kent County is currently in Phase 1b of COVID-19 vaccinations, and as the Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) availability of the COVID-19 vaccine increases, we will work with our local health district to move into other phases. We will be focusing on the prioritization strategies outlined by the Governor and as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).
New Kent County has opened a COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center for anyone with vaccination questions or to pre-register for future vaccine clinics to be scheduled in New Kent County. It is important to note that we do not have any clinics set up at this time - the call center is being utilized to pre-register individuals for anything in the future. The call center telephone number is (804) 966-9677. The call center is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Chickahominy Health District (CHD), of which New Kent County is included, has updated their website homepage, to include COVID-19 resources. It includes a vaccine sign-up survey (new version - if you have filled out previous surveys with the CHD or the the VDH, you do not need to to this again), and details on which phase we are in for vaccines locally. To sign up to be notified by the CHD when it's your turn for vaccination through the State, you will need to complete a vaccine inquiry form. Those who have completed the CHD inquiry form are also encouraged to call the New Kent County vaccine call center and get their contact information into that database as well.
The New Kent County COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center experienced a very high call volume over the last four days it was open this week, pre-registering 615 New Kent County residents and workers in our database. When calling the Call Center it may take up to 24 hours to receive a response if you need to leave a message. Please be patient. We are doing our best to answer phones and return calls as soon as possible. We are taking calls 9-4, Monday through Friday.
While these vaccines are a light at the end of the tunnel, now is not the time to let down your guard. Everyone needs to continue to implement safe practices such as wearing a mask, physical distancing, and frequent hand hygiene. Stay well, NKC!
